Student Attendance & Absence

Arrival/Dismissal
The school front doors open at 7.45am.
As the days darken and the mornings get cooler, make sure your children have appropriate clothing, if they have to wait outdoors.

The area in front of the school is for bus use only, after 8.00am and after 2.40pm.
Please collect your children from either the North car park (beside the gym) or the South car park (near Twin Rinks).  The bus bay becomes very congested as the busses arrive.

Student Attendance
Classroom instructional time is very valuable! In order to successfully learn, students must regularly be here and be on time! We inform our students that school is their job, and since as adults, they would be expected to be at work and be there on time.

Please make every effort to reinforce regular and prompt arrival to school.
Patterns of regular non attendance or lateness will impact learning and parents will be contacted by phone or letter seeking support in promoting regular, prompt attendance. If your child arrives after 8:30 am they will require a late slip from the office which should then be given to the teacher.

Children that are ill
Everyone is mindful of how quickly illness can spread through a class or the school.
It is important to note that if your child is ill, keep them home. Please do not send a sick child to school hoping that they may get better. Err on the side of caution, and keep your child home to help prevent others from becoming sick.

Signing Your Child Out
If during the day you wish to take your child out of school (i.e., Doctor/Dentist or other appointments), please send a note to school with your child and have them it give to office for processing. It is very important for us to know when a child has left the building/grounds. Upon returning the same day, please have your child to come to the office and sign back in.

Information & Announcements

Click HERE for SD33 updates about any school closures due to inclement weather.

In the event of extreme weather conditions, parents are urged to check the School District website www.sd33.bc.ca or tune into radio stations STAR FM (98.3 FM) or The Drive (89.5 FM), to receive up-to-date information on school closures and information on the buses.

Reports will start after 6:00 a.m. and will be repeated often. The information broadcast is directly from the School District. The reports are confirmed, and there is no need to call MSMS, the School District Office or the radio station. Students will be marked absent for the day, but such an absence will not affect a perfect attendance record.
NOTE: There is no "Snow Plan" for Promontory at this time.

Hey Folks! Please support our Fall Athletics Fundraiser! All commissions will be donated to our Athletics Department!

Howling Timberwolf LogoStaff Members

We have added many new staff members to MSMS this year to support all the new students at our school.

Teachers have moved rooms to accommodate teaming and School-based Team members have had to relocate to smaller rooms so that we can make room for all these classrooms! Teacher names are posted outside every door.

  • CORE teachers are arranged by grade level and teams of 3 or 4 CORE classes.
  • The School-based Team members have introduced themselves to every class and students should be able to find them.
  • We have added a few different positions to our middle school, such as another Vice-Principal, an Inclusion Teacher, a part-time ELL teacher, and a full-time Youth Worker.

Welcome to the new school year!

We have made many changes to our school this year, so please take the time to explore the information on our website.

We are looking forward to an AWESOME year here at Mount Slesse.
