Orange Shirt Day 2019

Orange Shirt Day 2019

Every Child Matters

On Monday, September 30th, our school will be participating in this important annual event. For Mount Slesse Middle School, Orange Shirt Day is a day for our students and staff to honour and pay respects to all residential school survivors as well as those that were lost. Most importantly, we have invited local aboriginal elders who are survivors themselves to witness our school-wide homage.

Our day will include some in-class pre-teaching, an assembly and guest speaker, as well as a walk around the community to bring awareness of this endeavor. Our walk will happen rain or shine, so please have your child(ren) dress accordingly. It would be wonderful, but not required, if you are able to have your child(ren) wear orange shirts for the occasion. If you wish, you can also go to the local Sto:lo gift shop where such special shirts are available for purchase.

With our hands raised,
Mt. Slesse Middle School and Staff
